How Can Physiotherapy Help Headaches
Another day, another headache? It doesn’t have to be like that.
More than half of Australians don’t consider headaches to be serious enough to seek help. Don’t be one of them…
Woken up with a headache? You’re not alone. It is estimated that up to 7 million Australians suffer from headaches, and a staggering 1 in 20 adults in the developed world gets them every day. The continual use of pain medication to combat headaches is like removing the warning light that alerts you to a problem in your car! Medication doesn’t solve your headache, it simply offers a short term solution to reduce the pain.
The good news is that in reading this, you’re one of a growing number looking for a solution. And Northern Districts Physiotherapy & Sports Clinic is the right place to come.
The most common type of headaches we see are ‘tension type’, and the pain is usually experienced on both sides of the head. These kinds of headache are often caused by muscle tension—due to overuse, poor posture and sitting down for long periods of the day—which results in joint restrictions in the neck and upper back, stress, anxiety and fatigue.
