A simple fall, a freak accident, a sports injury. Whatever the cause, there’s probably nothing worse than seeing your child hurt. A whole range of emotions flood through your body, drowning you in fear and anxiety.

Your first thoughts are to the present, and you hold your child close. And then, when the dust settles and the injury is healed, you start to notice that all is not as right as it should be. Perhaps you observe that your son no longer moves as freely as he used to. Maybe your daughter seems to have lost strength in the arm that she broke.

Your thoughts turn to the future. They’ve got a whole lot of growing still to do, and you want to give them the best possible chance to make a full recovery. So where do you turn?

We never ‘crack’ or use forceful movements when assessing or treating babies or children. Our physiotherapists are skilled at palpatory assessment—using touch and pressure to evaluate the health of muscles and tissue—to identify the root cause of the problem, and then, once we’ve made a diagnosis, we use safe and gentle techniques to help release any restrictions.
