Common Physiotherapy Treatments for Pregnant Women

Your physio will complete a thorough assessment of your symptoms and determine the most appropriate treatment methods to reduce your discomfort. Our physiotherapy team use a range of evidence-based treatments designed to strengthen your body long-term.

Some methods are not suitable for pregnant women, therefore our physiotherapists only use the safest treatments for you and your baby.

Common treatments incorporate one or more of:

  • Joint mobilisation
  • Posture training
  • Massage
  • Exercise programs
  • Providing appropriate supports or braces
  • Additional suitable treatments as determined by your physiotherapist.

Pregnancy Classes and Exercises

Gentle exercise during pregnancy is recommended and beneficial. If you are unsure of what exercise is best for you and your baby, ask a physiotherapist or GP to ensure you remain safe and healthy. There are also a range of pregnancy fitness classes including prenatal Pilates and yoga which provide low-impact movement and social connection.
